Catherine's father built this home for her after she completed her schooling in the east. Construction began in 1818 and was completed in 1823. Most of the furnishings were purchased by Catherine and remain in the house. The house has 3 stories and a basement. The upper most floor was for a ballroom. Many presidents and David Crockett who was born in the area visited the home.
We spent one full year on the road. October 2019 we purchased a home in Au Gres, Michigan as our home base, it's on a canal with access to Lake Huron. In the future our travels will include boating the Great Lakes. Are we snow birds? Not really our goal is to visit all the national parks. We couldn't help seeking warm weather to avoid winter for a bit, that is going to change in the future. Hope you continue to follow our travels and keep in tourch.

Andrew Johnson 17th President Greenville TN
These two pictures are from the National Cemetery where Andrew Johnson and his family were been buried. It was above town the views were astounding.
We toured Andrew Johnson's home. He became the 17th president after President Lincoln was shot. He supported the constitution throughout his life and his decisions were based on reserving individual rights.

Lazy Llama Campground, Chuckey TN Appalachian Mountains
Were here for six days, the owners run a Llama farm and are part of WWOOF, World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms. You can come and stay in a cabin and work the farm as an educational experience based on trust and non-monetary exchange, very cool place. Saturday I get to attend a free art class, yeah! right up my alley, Carolyn is a fiber artist.
Here's some photo's of our hike in the Rocky Fork State Park, about an hour from our campsite. This hike was 3 miles round trip but had a some very steep inclines as you got closer to the top. Beautiful view from the top, you could see the whole park from the rocky top.

Mammoth Caves National Park
Arrived at Mammoth Caves National Park on Oct. 19th, weather was nice but a little cool at night. Went on a couple of hikes and bike rides in the park and did a tour of the Frozen Niagara Cave. The park was real nice but a little rustic, no water or power on sites. We stayed through the 21st and headed for hopefully warmer weather in Tennessee at the Lazy Llama Campground in Greenville, Tenn.
The pictures below are from our 3 mile round trip hike to Crystal Cave. This was a cave entrance before the national park was established in 1941. Many poor farmers lived in the area and used the cave tours to supplement their incomes. Floyd Collins lived in this home and had offered tours of the cave. All of the cave entrances have locked doors and it is illegal to enter a cave without a permit.
