Mammoth Caves National Park

Arrived at Mammoth Caves National Park on Oct. 19th, weather was nice but a little cool at night. Went on a couple of hikes and bike rides in the park and did a tour of the Frozen Niagara Cave. The park was real nice but a little rustic, no water or power on sites. We stayed through the 21st and headed for hopefully warmer weather in Tennessee at the Lazy Llama Campground in Greenville, Tenn.

The pictures below are from our 3 mile round trip hike to Crystal Cave.  This was a cave entrance before the national park was established in 1941.   Many poor farmers lived in the area and used the cave tours to supplement their incomes.  Floyd Collins lived in this home and had offered tours of the cave.  All of the cave entrances have locked doors and it is illegal to enter a cave without a permit.
